On 15 October 2025, in collaboration with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), WISE organized a seminar on “Women CNIC and Voter Registration” to raise awareness about the importance of CNIC registration, informed voting, and active participation of women in the upcoming local government elections.
Held in connection with International Rural Women’s Day 2025, the event brought together more than 100 rural women, youth, and community representatives from various villages of Sheikhupura. Participants shared their experiences and challenges regarding CNIC and voter registration and took part in an interactive mock activity designed to help them better understand the voter registration process.
Key speakers included Ms. Huda Ali Gohar, Deputy Director, ECP; Ms. Bushra Khaliq, Executive Director, WISE; Ms. Nabeela Tariqa, Lecturer, Government Degree College Wandala Diyal Shah; Ms. Javeria Adeel, Board Member, WISE; Mr. Rana Waqar, Ex-Chairperson Mustafabad; and Mr. Riaz Butt, Secretary, Union Council 28. All speakers emphasized the vital role of rural women in strengthening democratic participation, noting that CNIC and voter registration are essential tools for their political and social empowerment.
The seminar reaffirmed WISE’s commitment to empowering rural women and youth to participate actively in democratic processes and ensure their voices are heard in governance and decision-making.
