WISE rganized a provincial stakeholder consultation on 29th September 2025, in follow-up to the implementation of the Punjab Domestic Workers Act, 2019, bringing together government representatives, trade union representatives and a large number of women domestic workers and their union leaders across Punjab.
Participants included Shahnaz Bibi, President Women Domestic Workers Union–Punjab (Lahore), Parveen Latif Ansari, Parkash Domestic Workers Union (Faisalabad), Shabana Pervaiz, Lyallpur Domestic Workers Union (Faisalabad), Nagina Sitara, Sittara Domestic Workers Union (Toba Tek Singh), and Zarina Akhtar, General Secretary United Domestic Workers Union (Kasur).
Key speakers; Aayaz Ahmad Farooqi (Director, PESSI), Rubina Jamil (General Secretary, All Pakistan Trade Union Federation), Zubair Hassan (Deputy Director, Labor & HR Department, Punjab), Ahmad Majeed (advocate & child rights activist), and Bushra Khaliq (Executive Director, WISE) shared their insights. The dialogue provided an important platform to highlight challenges, experiences sharing, and strengthening collective efforts for the effective implementation of the Punjab Domestic Workers Act and the protection of workers’ rights.
