On 31 January 2026, WISE organized a Public Hearing at the Municipal Committee Sheikhupura, in collaboration with the Local Government and Community Development Department, to address women’s grievances related to civic and municipal services. The session was attended by Mr. Waseem (Manager, Lahore Waste Management Company), Mr. Abdul Hameed (Assistant Director, Local Government), Mr. Karamat (Municipal Officer), Mr. Muhammad Ali (Municipal Superintendent), municipal officials, Union Council secretaries, representatives of the local government and community development departments, and a large number of women from the community.

Ms. Rukhsana Arshad, Women Facilitation Desk Officer, outlined the objectives of the Hearing and briefed participants about the Women Facilitation Desk, established with support from WISE to help women access municipal services. During the session, women participants raised concerns regarding drainage and sewerage blockages, lack of street lighting, poor waste management and cleanliness, and high fees for the registration and certification of births and deaths.
