The Punjab Domestic Workers Act 2019 was introduced in February 2019, however, the rules of business and functional frameworks are yet to be defined. WISE is determined to push forward the agenda of implementation of the law through awareness and advocacy campaign “Rights & Dignity for Domestic Workers in Punjab”, in collaboration with Norwegian Human Rights Fund (NHRF) in the districts of Lahore and Sheikhupura.

Under this initiative WISE is undertaking awareness activities related to legal and labor rights of women domestic workers and encourage their registration with Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI)

• 315 domestic workers attended 8 awareness sessions
• 12 meetings organized with Govt Officers of the Labor Department & Punjab Employees Social Security Institution
• 4 meetings with Domestic workers’ unions and Employers Associations
• 1 baseline study on the legal mechanisms available to the Domestic workers
