Digitalisation today permeates every aspect of our economic, political and social lives; however, it is not gender neutral, and Local govt. must ensure gender equality while introducing the new automated web-based system in the union councils. In this context, WISE organised an interactive seminar to provide women opportunity to understand the digital transformation of union councils of Punjab – an initiative of the Local Govt in collaboration with NADRA. The speakers including Javed Iqbal Bhatti, Farooq Ahmed Khara from Local Govt. and Community Development Department and Sajid Ali from Shah Hussain Network shared their views. On this occasion, a large number of women including ex-lady councillors and community activists from Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura and Lahore joined the event. The purpose of the event was to facilitate an interface between community women and Local govt. officials regarding automated web-based services of Local Govt. in Punjab.
