Contribution of Women Domestic Workers in Unpaid Care Work, Report Launch

WISE, in collaboration with the University of Home Economics, launched its latest research report titled ‘Contribution of Women Domestic Workers in Unpaid Care Work.’ The esteemed panelists, including Dr. Shahla Tabassum – Lead Researcher and Head of Fatima Jinnah University, Rawalpindi, Bushra Khaliq – Executive Director WISE, Muhammad Shahid – Senior Law Officer, Labour & Human Resource Department Punjab, Ashfaq Hussain Bokhari – Deputy Director Planning, Directorate of Women Development Department Punjab, Ms. Rubina Jamil – General Secretary, All Pakistan Trade Union Federation, Ms. Shahnaz Ajmal – President, Women Domestic Workers Union, Punjab, Ms. Zeba Ghafoor – Member Punjab Assembly, alongside numerous faculty members and students, shed light on the vital role of women domestic workers in the unpaid care economy.

 

Dr. Shela shared key findings, revealing the substantial economic worth of their contributions: Rs. 8.0 million per month for child care, Rs. 2.02 million for domestic care, Rs. 1.46 million for elderly care, and Rs. 4.11 million for caring for people with special needs.
