On May 05, 2026, in collaboration with Pakistan Study Center, University of the Punjab and SDF, WISE organized a roundtable discussion titled “Building Consensus: Political Parties Dialogue & Effective Local Governance” at the University of the Punjab.
The event brought together faculty members, students, academia, civil society representatives, and political party delegates, including Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Awami Workers Party, Pakistan Kissan Mazdoor Party, National Party, and Awaz-e-Khalaq Party.
The session was presided over by Prof. Rana Ejaz. Participants critically discussed the Punjab Local Government Act (PLGA) 2025, its strengths and limitations, and shared recommendations to improve the law in alignment with Article 140A of the Constitution. The roundtable concluded with a unanimous demand for the timely conduct of local government elections in Punjab without further delay.
