Honouring the Legacy of Peasant Leader Aqeela Naz

On 10 July 2026, we gathered to pay tribute to our beloved and courageous peasant leader, Aqeela Naz, whose life remains an enduring symbol of resistance, dignity and the struggle for justice. Friends and comrades from diverse social movements, women’s organisations, labour and peasant groups, and human rights defenders came together to celebrate her remarkable legacy.

Speakers reflected on her unwavering commitment to the rights of peasants, women and marginalised communities. Her fearless leadership, deep connection with grassroots struggles and determination to challenge injustice continue to inspire new generations of activists.

Remembering Aqeela Naz was not merely an act of honouring the past; it was a renewed commitment to carrying forward the struggles she so passionately led. Her vision of equality, land rights and social justice continues to live on through every collective effort to build a more just and democratic society. Aqeela Naz will always remain alive in our struggles, our memories and our shared hope for a better future.
