On 20 July 2026, WISE organised a seminar titled “Empowering Young Girls for a Digital Future” in Lahore, bringing together around 80 participants, including digital experts, development practitioners, entrepreneurs, academics and young women. The seminar explored how digital innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership can create sustainable economic opportunities for women and girls in Pakistan, recognising that empowering young girls with digital skills is key to building an inclusive and prosperous future.
The panel featured distinguished speakers including Ms. Huma Ilyas, Entrepreneur & Founder of E-Rain; Dr. Amjad Abbas Khan Magsi Head of Pakistan Study Centre, The University of the Punjab; Ms. Sidra Humayun, Program Coordinator Punjab, UN Women Pakistan; Ms. Sabiha Shaheen, Executive Director, Bargad; Mr. Tariq Khan Niazi, Director DWD/DG-PWHA, Women Development Department; Ms. Mahnoor Tariq, Assistant Director LG & CD and Ms. Sam Ali Dada, prominent entrepreneur and Convenor Standing Committee on National Economic Policies & Reforms.
The insightful discussion highlighted the transformative role of digital technologies, innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusive leadership in advancing women’s economic empowerment. It was emphasised that a digitally literate and connected generation of girls can become the engine that lifts families out of poverty, strengthens communities and repositions Pakistan as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
A special highlight of the event was the certificate distribution ceremony for 15 graduates of FEM DIGI HUB – A digital skills initiative of WISE, serving the grassroots community of Shahdara, Sheikhupura. Having successfully completed their 6-month course, these young girls are now better equipped to pursue careers, freelancing and entrepreneurship in the digital economy. Through initiatives like FEM DIGI HUB, WISE continues to invest in the potential of young women, creating pathways for economic independence and empowering them to become confident leaders of Pakistan’s digital future.
