Bridging Gaps in Local Governance by Engaging 236 Participants Through Community Dialogues

With the 5th and final community dialogue, in UC-28 Shahdara, district Sheikhupura, our on-going exercise to capture grass root municipal issues and development problems, experiences and demands regarding local governance in Punjab, was successfully concluded. Besides secretaries of UCs 28, 29 and 30, ex-councilors, including lady councilors, former chairman/vice chairman, local political activists and WISE community focal persons joined the event.

Overall, 236 people participated in these local-led community dialogues in selected Union Councils of three districts of Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Lahore. The field exercise was meant to assess the development deficits of existing local govt system sans public representation.
