On 12 March 2025, WISE and Sangat Development Foundation (SDF) jointly organised a Civil Society consultation involving, civil society activists, Lcoal Govt. experts, media persons and representatives of political parties. The participants expressed strong reservations on the recently passed Punjab Local Government Bill 2025 by the Punjab Assembly. They termed the Bill as an effort to bureaucratise the LG system of the Province, declaring it against the spirit of Articles 7, 32 and 140-A/ of the Constitution.

To push forward the agenda of a democratic and empowered local government system, it was unanimously decided to form a Working Group of LG experts and academics to develop a comprehensive draft, based on civil society recommendations for submission to the Punjab Assembly Standing Committee on Local Government for consideration to improve the Bill.
