On 14 June 2025, in collaboration with WISE, National Women Journalist Forum (NWJF), organized a dialogue on the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010 . The event brought together 96 women journalists, including representatives from major media houses, journalist unions and the Lahore Press Club. Key speakers included Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar, Provincial Ombudsperson Punjab Ms. Nabila Hakim Ali, WISE Executive Director Ms. Bushra Khaliq, NWJF President Ms. Farzana Chaudhary, and Lahore Press Club President Mr. Arshad Ansari.
Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar underscored the strength of the law and highlighted that harassment-free workplaces are essential to increase women’s participation in the labor force. Provincial Ombudsperson Ms. Nabila Hakim called for stricter institutional compliance, reminding all workplaces including media houses that enforcing this law is not optional.
Ms. Bushra Khaliq, Executive Director of WISE, emphasised the need to take this conversation to the grassroots so that every worker—formal or informal—knows their rights at workplace. Ms. Farzana Chaudhry, President of the National Women’s Journalism Forum, highlighted the vulnerabilities women face in media and public-facing roles, urging stronger protection mechanisms within newsrooms. The event reinforced a collective commitment to ensuring safe, dignified, and equitable workplaces for women in the media sector and beyond.
