Continuing our campaign against #GenderBasedViolence, WISE organized a powerful sequence of events. A public rally at Aman Ghar, Faisalabad, was followed by an impactful seminar titled “End Economic Exploitation and Violence against Women Domestic Workers.” Representatives from the Women Domestic Workers Union Punjab, Layalpur Domestic Work Union, and Purkash Domestic Workers Union actively participated.
The main speakers, including Zarina Irshad, President of Parkash Domestic Workers Union; Shabana Bhatti, Chairman of Layalpur Domestic Workers Union; Shahnaz Ajmal, President of Women DWs Union Punjab; Bushra Khaliq, Executive Director of WISE; Nazeeran Bibi, President of Bhatta Mazdor Tahreek; and Baba Latif Ansari, representing Labour Qaumi Movement, addressed the gathering.
Their collective voice resounded in demands to end violence against women domestic workers. They passionately called for the registration of domestic workers with PESSI, the issuance of social security cards, the immediate implementation of minimum wage notifications, and the prompt formulation of rules of business crucial for effective enforcement of domestic workers’ rights outlined in the “Punjab Domestic Workers Act 2019”
