Stakeholders Consultation on Punjab Domestic Workers Act 2019 - Progress and Way Forward

WISE organized a Stakeholders Consultation on the “Punjab Domestic Workers Act 2019 – Progress and Way Forward” in Faisalabad. The consultation featured active participation from government representatives, domestic workers’ unions from Lahore, Faisalabad, and Toba Tek Singh, as well as numerous women domestic workers. Key issues discussed included the provision of social security cards for domestic workers, the approval of business rules, the implementation of minimum wage notifications, and labor inspection measures. Notable speakers included Rao Yaseen Kharral, Ghulam Shabir (Director Labor), Ehsan ul Haq (Director PESSI), Parveen Latif Ansari (Chairperson Laylpur Domestic Workers Union), Usman Pasha (Labor Laws expert), Shahnaz Bibi (President Women Domestic Workers Union Punjab), Nageena (Vice President Sitara Domestic Workers Union Toba Tek Singh), Shabna Bhatti (Chairperson Laylpur Domestic Workers Union), Zareena Irshad (Prakash Domestic Workers Union), Baba Latif Ansari (labor leader), and Shabana Razzaq (Vice President PTI).
