On 2 June 2026, WISE organized a Women’s Public Hearing (Khawateen Khuli Kachehri) at the Shalimar Zone Office, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), bringing together 80 participants, including local government officials, women community members, and concerned citizens to discuss municipal issues affecting women and their communities.
The event provided an important platform for women to directly engage with local government officials and representatives of relevant departments, raising concerns related to public services, sanitation, community development, women’s participation in decision-making, and access to government support mechanisms.
The hearing was attended by Mavra Khan, Asia Bashir, Tazeen Hussain Naqvi, Aga Jamshad, Rabia Altaf, and Bushra Khaliq. The officials listened to the concerns of women, noted their grievances, and shared information regarding available municipal services and institutional support mechanisms.
The public hearing strengthened women’s voices at the grassroots level and highlighted the importance of their meaningful participation in local governance and community development processes. It also fostered greater dialogue, accountability, and collaboration between citizens and public institutions for improved service delivery.
